Bushtukah Frost & Fire Triathlon & Run

Aegle Events are pleased to present the 3rd Annual Bushtukah Frost & Fire Triathlon and Run, a new and challenging Canadian winter triathlon and 5 km winter run in the heart of our region’s beautiful woodlands and rolling hills. Join hundreds of racers in a unique Wakefield wilderness event, where you experience the extremes of the season in a spectacular setting. Whether you’re running in the Triathlon or the running event, we promise a safe, challenging and unique experience.

Events:

Full Winter Triathlon: (Timed by Sportstats, individual or team relay) 

Winter Try a Tri: 

  • 1.5km Snowshoe, 4.5km Cross Country Ski, (free technique and we will provide a classic track), followed by a 2.5km run.
  • Detailed map of Try a Tri here (The red trail of the skiing loop is done once)

Winter 5km Run/Walk: (Timed by Sportstats)

3 km Snowshoe Run (only) (Timed by Sportstats)

Join race participants for celebration and awards with a comforting warm Lunch at Alpengruss Restaurant 12:30pm (Recommended to reserve in advance) ($15/person in advance, $18 day of!)
·      Hot Stew with bun and hot beverage: $15/person (Tax and Tip Included)
·      NOTE* Anyone can come for awards, but the full lunch costs money.

  • 9:10 am: Full Tri and Try-a-Tri Briefing
  • 9:30 am:  Full Tri Start
  • 9:30 am:  3 km Snowshoe Start
  • 9:40 am:  Try-a-Tri Start
  • 10:10 am:  5 km Run Start

 - no strollers, no dogs, no baby joggers, 
- First Aid/Water Station available.


Pricing & Registration (Open in October 2014)

Register for Early Bird deal by January 5th, 2014 and save $10!. Registration closes January 20th, however, last minute registration for the 5 km run ONLY are available Friday January 23rd at race kit pick- up and increases another $5 (cash or cheque only).

No race day registration available on site! 

Registration includes:

  • Bushtukah Frost and Fire Original BUFF
  • Aegle Events double layered Bag
  • Recovery snacks (Hot apple cider)
  • A portion of net proceeds from this event are donated to Project North and the Aegle Youth in Action Fund.

For an extra $15 join everyone at the Alpengruss Restaurant for lunch 1:30pm (Hot stew served with a bun and hot drink!).

5km Run/Walk:

  • By Jan 5th:  Adult $48,  Youth <17, senior 65> $37.        Teams start at 3 people at $138,any additional member costs $42 up to 8 people.
  • By Jan 20th:  Adult $58, Youth <17, senior 65> $45.      Teams start at 3 people at $165, any additional member costs $52 up to 8 people.

Full Winter Triathlon: 

  • By Jan 5th: Adult $73,  Youth <17, senior 65> $59.        Team relay of 2 or 3 people $90.
  • By Jan 20th: Adult $83, Youth <17, senior 65> $69.      Team relay of 2 or 3 people $120.

Winter Try a Tri: 

  • By Jan 5th: Adult $53,  Youth <17, senior 65> $37.        Team relay of 2 or 3 people $75.
  • By Jan 20th: Adult $63, Youth <17, senior 65> $49.      Team relay of 2 or 3 people $95.

3 km Snowshoe Run (only) (Timed by Sportstats)

  • By Jan 5th: Adult $30,  Youth <17, senior 65> $25.
  • By Jan 20th: Adult $35, Youth <17, senior 65> $30.

Race Kit Pick Up

  • Bushtukah: 203 Richmond Rd. Ottawa, ON K1Z 6W4 (613-792-1170)
  • January 23rd: 3:00 – 7:00 pm.
  • If you can’t make it on Friday (Or come from out of town), you can pick it up on Race day morning on site between 8am and 9:15, but we encourage you to pick it up friday.

Volunteers

The Frost and Fire Tri and 10km run recruits an average of 50-60 volunteers every year to help coordinate activities. This event could not take place without these dedicated people who love to contribute and make a difference. All volunteers receive: 

-a Frost and Fire volunteer hat and cotton bag.
- ticket for a free lunch

When you participate in our Frost and Fire event, your participation helps Aegle Events fulfill its mission,  which is to raise funds for reputable local and global charitable organizations whose mandate is the health and well- being of youth in communities.The Frost and Fire event is pleased to announce it will be donating funds to support Project North, who are an organization committed to enhancing the lives of children in North Canada through supplying hockey equipment to Inuit children of all ages.Watch the Project North video on YouTube.
