The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run will take you through some of Wakefield’s most beautiful and picturesque landscapes. Whether you’re running up “Quad Buster Hill” in the half marathon trail run through Gatineau Park, or crossing the historical covered bridge in any one of our four running events, we promise a safe, challenging and unique running experience.

Your participation in the Wakefield Covered Bridge Run will help raise funds for the Wakefield Recreation Association in the Municipality of La Pêche. Over the past 5 years this run has raised $39,735 which goes to the ongoing commitment of the Recreation Association supporting a healthy community through the outdoor sports facilities and activities at the Wakefield Centre La Pêche.

Location and Start Times:

All 5 events start at the Vorlage Ski Hill at 65 ch. Burnside.

  • 3km: 8:50 am
  • 5km: 9:20 am – Brought to you by Aubin et LaCasse Pharmaciens
  • 10km: 10:30 am – Brought to you by Famille Charles IGA
  • 10km Trail Run: 8:55 am – Brought to you by Groupe Santé Dentaire Wakefield
  • 21.1km Trail Run: 9:25 am

Events:

3 KM Family walk/run: This family event for children and parents starts from Vorlage and goes to the other side of the Wakefield Covered Bridge and back. Click here to view map

5 KM Aubin et Lacasse Pharmaciens  Run/Walk: This event takes you through part of Wakefield, across the Covered Bridge then runs along the beautiful Gatineau River for 1km and back on the same route, half paved road, half hard gravel road. Click here to view map

10 KM Famille Charles IGA Run/Walk: This fun and picturesque 10km event takes you through a residential area of Wakefield, across the Covered Bridge, then along the beautiful Gatineau River for most of your kms and back, one 3rd paved road, two 3rd’s hard gravel road. Click here to view map

10 KM Groupe Santé Dentaire de Wakefield Trail Run: This trail run takes you over rolling hills, flat sections, forests and open fields. It starts a little challenging  in the first 100 meters straight up a section of the Vorlage Ski Hill (Quad Buster Hill), then passes the Wakefield Mill and joins part of the Trans-Canada Trail through the beautiful Gatineau Park and back. Please NOTE:  No dogs, Nordic walking poles and no walkers for this Trail Run. Click here to view map

21.l KM Half Marathon Trail Run: This exhilarating trail run takes you over rolling hills, flat sections, forests and open fields. It starts a little challenging  in the first 100 meters straight up a section of the Vorlage Ski Hill (Quad Buster Hill), then passes the Wakefield Mill and joins part of the Trans-Canada Trail through the beautiful Gatineau Park to near Lac Philippe and back. There will be a water station at 2.5km that you will also hit at 17.5km on the way back, and one around km 8km. Those water tables will also have first aid. You are out on the trails so if you need food we suggest you bring something as you need, water and first aid we provide. Please Note: Limited to 250 people, must be 10 years of age or older. No dogs, Nordic walking poles and no walkers for this Trail Run.  Click here to view map of route

Race Kit Pick-Up

  • Friday May 6th: Vorlage Ski Hill at 65 ch. Burnside, Wakefield Qc.  

                    – From 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, for ALL events.

  • Saturday May 7th: Vorlage Ski Hill at 65 ch. Burnside, Wakefield Qc. 

                  – From 7:15 am to 8:30 am for 3km and 10 km Trail Race. 
                  – From 7:15 am to 9:00 am for 5km and 21.1km Trail Run. 
                  – From 7:15 am to 10:00 am for 10km. 

RACE PHOTOS:

To come within 5 days following the event. You will receive an email. Thank you.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION:

Race day registration is available cash or cheque only from 7:15 am to 10:15 am at Ski Vorlage, you must register 30 minutes before your race start. Shirts are first some first serve on race day.


Donations and Pledges:

The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run is committed to raising funds for local charities like the Wakefield Recreation Association and Wakefield Trails, whose mandates support the health and well-being of youth in our community. The Association is responsible for the management and maintenance of the outdoor sportspad at the Wakefield Community Centre where people gather to practice their favourite sports activities and stay active. We are also responsible for the different festivals and the Wakefield Trails supports the maintenance and creation of recreational trails throughout the community.


 Registration Includes:

  • A Wakefield Covered Bridge Run Race t-shirt, (male or female).
  • A portion of each fee is donated to the Wakefield Recreation Association.
  • Recovery snacks provided by Famille Charles IGA
  • Medals for everyone

Teams:

Teams start a minimum of 3 people at the price in the chart above, to a max of 10 members. After 3 members, each person will be charged an additional fee see addition team rates here. The team captain must sign the whole team up at the same time.

Race day registration available:

Prices are increased and cash or check only, must show up 45 minutes in advance before your race start and shirt sizes for race day registration are first come first serve.

The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run recruits an average of 50-60 volunteers every year to help coordinate activities associated with the run. This event could not take place without these dedicated people who love to contribute and make a difference. All volunteers receive:

-ticket for a free lunch

This unique duathlon in the beautiful Gatineau Park is a special event that takes place at Lac Philippe before the park it opened to the public for the summer season. Geared towards families and competitive individuals it features distances for everyone, taking you through trails in the park, along beautiful country roads for the bike and a safe run along closed park roads for the 2nd portion of the run.
