Registration Deadline: Wednesday, June 14th
Paddle for AGH is a family celebration, which combines Canada Day (150th anniversary), paddling the Mississippi River in Almonte and raising funds for the Almonte General Hospital. The day’s events and activities will bring our community together to celebrate, have fun and raise funds in support of new Diagnostic Imaging equipment at the Almonte General Hospital. There are five different paddling events to choose from:
Raft Race: The object of this event is to assemble a raft on the Almonte Fairgrounds site and, with a crew of four persons, paddle the raft across the Mississippi River, turn around a buoy and return.
5K Community Paddle: The objective of this event is participation. It is not a timed event. Participants will start at the Fairgrounds boat launch and paddle 5K up to a marker at the beginning of the beautiful Appleton Wetland. They will then retrace their route to return to the finish line at the boat launch.
300 meter 2 Person Canoe Sprint Race: The start line for this 300 meter race will be located at the municipal beach. Racers will paddle across the river negotiate a turn around a buoy and return to the finish line on the beach.
300 meter 1 Person Kayak Race: The start line for this 300 meter race will be located at the municipal beach. Racers will paddle across the river negotiate a turn around a buoy and return to the finish line on the beach.
150 m Standing Paddle Board Race: This race will start in the water out from the municipal beach. Participants will paddle 150 meters across the river around a buoy and back.
