The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run will take you through some of Wakefield’s most beautiful and picturesque landscapes. 

May 4th 2019, La Pêche, Wakefield, QC

Whether you’re running up “Quad Buster Hill” in the half marathon trail run through Gatineau Park, or crossing the historical covered bridge in any one of our four running events, we promise a safe, challenging and unique running experience.

Your participation in the Wakefield Covered Bridge Run will help raise funds for the Wakefield Recreation Association in the Municipality of La Pêche. Over the past 8 years this run has raised $47,015 which goes to the ongoing commitment of the Recreation Association supporting a healthy community through the outdoor sports facilities and activities at the Wakefield Centre La Pêche. Funds also support the Wakefield Trails.

Events and Maps

3 KM Family walk/run Brought to you by Klimat Bouldering. Fitness. (map)

This family event for children and parents starts from Vorlage and goes to the other side of the Wakefield Covered Bridge and back.

5 KM sebastien Aubin et Nadine Lacasse Run/Walk (map)

This event takes you through part of Wakefield, across the Covered Bridge then runs along the beautiful Gatineau River for 1km and back on the same route, half paved road, half hard gravel road.

10 KM Famille Charles IGA Run/Walk (Map)

This fun and picturesque 10km event takes you through a residential area of Wakefield, across the Covered Bridge, then along the beautiful Gatineau River for most of your kms and back, one 3rd paved road, two 3rd’s hard gravel road.

10 KM Trail Run (MAP)

This trail run takes you over rolling hills, flat sections, forests and open fields. It starts a little challenging  in the first 100 meters straight up a section of the Vorlage Ski Hill (Quad Buster Hill), then passes the Wakefield Mill and joins part of the Trans-Canada Trail through the beautiful Gatineau Park and back. Please Note:  Trail event does not cross the Covered Bridge, No dogs, Nordic walking poles and no walkers for this Trail Run.

21.1 KM Trail Run Brought to you by JB Construction  (MAP)  

This exhilarating trail run takes you over rolling hills, flat sections, forests and open fields. It starts a little challenging  in the first 100 meters straight up a section of the Vorlage Ski Hill (Quad Buster Hill), then passes the Wakefield Mill and joins part of the Trans-Canada Trail through the beautiful Gatineau Park to near Lac Philippe and back. There will be a water station at 2.5km that you will also hit at 17.5km on the way back, and one around km 8km. Those water tables will also have first aid. You are out on the trails so if you need food we suggest you bring something as you need, water and first aid we provide. Please Note: This trail event does not cross the Covered Bridge,  it is limited to 250 people and you must be 10 years of age or older. No dogs, Nordic walking poles and no walkers for this Trail Run.

  • Massage Therapists: 8 massage therapists from the international massage academy of Ottawa will meet you at the start or finish to answer your questions, help you prep for your run, or relax a sore muscle after your race!
  • PhysioTips.com: Anick Viau from Physio Tips will be at the start and finish to help you with running techniques, and injury questions!

Team Registrations

The team captain must sign the whole team up at the same time, once the team is entered, additional members can not be added. Minimum of 3 people, up to 12. Additional fee per team member starts at member # 4.

Race day registration available

Race day registration is available cash or cheque only from 7:00 am to 9:15 am and is $5 more then the last online price, you must register 30 minutes before your race start time. Shirts are first some first serve on race day.

Donations and Pledges

The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run is committed to raising funds for local charities like the Wakefield Recreation Association and Wakefield Trails, whose mandates support the health and well-being of youth in our community. The Association is responsible for the management and maintenance of the outdoor sportspad at the Wakefield Community Centre where people gather to practice their favourite sports activities and stay active. We are also responsible for the different festivals and the Wakefield Trails supports the maintenance and creation of recreational trails throughout the community.

Volunteers

The Wakefield Covered Bridge Run recruits an average of 50-60 volunteers every year to help coordinate activities associated with the run. This event could not take place without these dedicated people who love to contribute and make a difference. All volunteers receive:

  • A Wakefield Covered Bridge Run Volunteer t-shirt
  • Some snacks and a drink while having a great time
  • Sign up to volunteer.
